Guests present: Jason Gastiaux, Dave Durst, Joe Karakul, Peggy Van Vleet, Sandee Abele, Becky Unger, Ray Petering, Corey Brown, Kevin Mabe, Theresea Behrends, Dean Jewell

Meeting was called to order by President Rick Unger at 6:30 PM at The Pond.

Presentation by Ray Petering and Corey Brown from ODNR:

Presentation revolved around the new licensing system:

One day licenses can be purchased in advance via online or in-store;

Can be activated on the boat by identifying the date on the license;

Does not have to be used the day it is purchased

One day and Three day licenses may be purchased over the phone for an additional five dollar fee by calling 1-866-703-1928

There are still concerns about the speed at which customers are receiving licenses and what happens when the system goes down. ODNR is confident the system shutting down will be minimal and that this first year will be difficult to get through, but they will continue to monitor it and make the necessary changes accordingly. Don’t wait until the last minute to purchase a license.

Ray Petering discussed the issue of seeing many dead walleye on Lake Erie. They are aware of the situation and are waiting on test results from the lab. There are no issues concerning the consumption of fish….they are good to eat.

Motion to approve April Board minutes by Dave Whitt, seconded by Pete Scheid. Passed by the Board.

Treasurer’s Report by Don Lowther. Motion to approve by Mel Fenger, seconded by Ron Eickholt. Passed by the Board.

Old Business:

There will be no change in time frame for dues renewal. Membership dues will still be due the end of July and membership for the drug program will be due in January.

The meeting with the Governor in March went well. Paul and Rick will meet with him again on May 11 in Columbus.

Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs” kids fishing day is set for Saturday June 4, 2011. Ten boats are needed for the occasion. Please contact Dave Whitt if interested in helping out at 419-355-4732

President Unger is going to speak to Geno Barna concerning the leeway on fish length ticketing, and the possibility of redirecting his guys from the Lake on days there are issues with the fishing licensing system.

The next LECBA meeting will be held at The Pond on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 6 PM
