LECBA Board Meeting

Monday April 12, 2010


The meeting was called to order by President Rick Unger at 6:20 PM at the Island House Restaurant.

Members present: Jerry Abele, Steve Connor, Ron Eickholt, Jeff Goehring, Don Lowther, Chris Moore, Wanda Morehead, Paul Pacholski, Pete Scheid, John Tucholski, Rick Unger, Barry Witt, Bob Witt, Dave Whitt

Guests present: Sandee Abele, Ron Lamont, Peggy VanVleet

Motion made by Paul Pacholski to approve March minutes. Seconded by Pete Scheid. Passed by the Board.

Treasurer’s Report given by Don Lowther. Motion to approve report by Steve Connor. Seconded by Jerry Abele. Passed by the Board.

Barry Witt and Jeff Goehring made contact with many businesses about becoming a member of the LECBA. Some possibilities. Invoices will be sent to them.

Great Lakes Fisheries Committee Meeting in Windsor on March 26-27 went well. Walleye limits will remain at six and the perch limit will be 30 lake wide.

President Unger is still being contacted regarding the closure of the spring season. The LECBA continues to lobby against it. Suggestion made to keep records of the females killed during the spring season to show numbers as concrete evidence.

The selling of Canadian licenses here in the U.S. has been put on hold by the Canadian enforcement division. President Unger is still working on an exemption for one year.

Paul Pachoski and Rick Unger attended a meeting at Point Place to discuss the issues of Asian Carp, algae, pollution.

President Unger will be attending a meeting in Columbus to speak to congressional aides about Asian carp and Open Lake dumping on Wed. April 14, 2010.

President Unger attended a North Coast Charter Boat Association meeting to let them know the issues that the LECBA is currently working on. They are in full support and will work with us.

Jerry Abele would like to arrange a fishing trip/outing for some Veterans late this summer Some members are willing to donate boats for the cause. Jeff Goehring offered to supply bait. Motion made by Wanda Morehead to pay no more then $500 to help with the cost. Seconded by Paul Pacholski. Passed by the Board.


Bob Witt is currently working on the website to update it with member information. Members will receive an email with their username and pass code and then they will be able to access the site and change/add their own personal information.

Ron Eickholt questioned the progress of Open Lake dumping and working with LaFarge. No current progress as funding is still a major issue.

Next meeting Monday, May 10, 2010 at 6:00 PM at the Island House Restaurant.
