Board Minutes

May 11, 2009

Monday, May 11, 2009LECBA Board Meeting Meeting was held at Wild Wings Restaurant.President Rick Unger called the meeting to order at 6:20 PM Members present:Jerry Abele, Ron Eickholt, Charlie Eulitt, Jeff Goehring, Mike Karhoff, Don Lowther, Mike Matta, Chris Moore, Pete Scheid, Barry Witt, Bob Witt, Dave Whitt, Rick Unger 

Guests present: Eric Gahn, Sandy Coutcher, Danny Coutcher, Oliver Tolls, Al Zeman, Theresa Behrends, and Sandee Abele.

 Motion made by Barry Witt to approve April minutes.  Seconded by Ron Eickholt. Treasurer’s Report:Detailed report by Don Lowther.  Motion to approve report by Dave Whitt.  Seconded by Jerry Abele. The Drug Policy book  has now been replaced by a CD.  If you are in need of one, please see Sandee Abele. Mike Matta mentioned that the StoneLab had a large group of journalists gathered from everywhere.  He noted that the Canadian commercial fisherman believe there is a feud going on between us and that it is “our fault” (Meaning the charter boats/sportsman) Sandee Abele distributed Substance Abuse Training Videos to many members. Please watch the video, sign paper and return to her. Mike Matta would like the Board to come up with some creative ways to promote the next generation of fisherman.  Possible suggestions included a bumper sticker, or a Kid’s page on the website. President Unger presented a letter from the Port Clinton Power Squadron asking for a donation.  Motion made by Mike Karhoff to make a $100 donation. Seconded by Chris Moore. Passed by the Board. Pete Scheid asked for feedback from April’s meeting.  Topics/Suggestions included:            *Changing/broadening the LECBA name*Getting the “average” private boater to belong to the organization…    not just Charter Captains                        *Make all members equal with regards to voting Rick Unger is an Ohio Director for Lake Erie Sports Fishing Council.  There has been discussion of windmills on Lake Erie.  Rick is monitoring the situation and in his belief LECBA should oppose this issue.  Mike Matta mentioned that as far as he has heard it is etched in stone that it will be a four (4) fish per person limit next year.  He believes we should prepare to come together as a united front with a plan/proposal.  He proposes a change in size limit to 18 inches.  President Unger will call Ray Petering for more information. Any documents discussing LECBA need to be signed by President Unger. Charlie Eulitt, Eric Gahn, and Mike Matta will join together as a committee to work on ideas of what LECBA should be doing and Rick Unger will take the message to Columbus. Next meeting will be held on Monday, June 8, 2009 at The Pond. Motion to adjourn at 7:20 P.M. by Ron Eickholt. Seconded by Bob Witt.
