The meeting was called to order by acting President Steve Conner at 6:30 PM.

Members present: Bob Collins, Jerry Abele, Steve Conner, Ron Eicholt, Charley Eulitt, Mel Fenger, Jeff Goehring, Don Lowther, Paul Pacholski, Pete Scheid, Bob Witt, Dan Welsh, Dave Whitt

Guests present: Roseanna Mast, Leroy Mast, Dave Schllabach, Paul Yoder, Amanda Yoder, Verna Bowman, Reuben Bowman, Bob Hayner, Theresa Behrends, Eric Gahn

Treasurer’s Report:
Detailed report presented by Don Lowther.
Motion made and approved to accept the treasurer’s report.

New/Old Business:
Discussion about the two-rod program being changed to a three-rod program was addressed. Nothing has been heard from DNR regarding this issue.

Continued discussion from last month concerning captains and their mates giving away their catch. It is legal to give away your catch once per day. LECBA will not pursue this issue.

An email for the Captain of the Year award was sent out. All should have received it. The deadline for nominations is November 30.

Discussion about Board members missing meetings. It is stated in the rules that if you miss more than three meetings a year you are to be dismissed. Questions asked: Are we going to enforce it? Amend the rules? Judge each individual case? Discuss issues with the Board member instead of making an issue of it?
Motion made by Charley Eulitt that if you have three unexcused absences in a year you would be dismissed. Seconded by Ron Eicholt and passed by the Board.
If you know you will be absent, please phone someone!

Guests Paul Yoder and Reuben Bowman (gentlemen of the Amish Community) spoke to the Board. They expressed their gratitude and want to continue to help control the managing of Lake Erie the best they can.

DNR had the Muskee bring in a load of fish to Huron for research. Questions arose as to what happens to the fish? It looks like a waste to the public eye. DNR should be asked to advertise what is happening and explain to people what is going on. Educate the public!
Paul Pacholski discussed the Bay Shore Power Plant. The fish kill is outrageous. They want better numbers from the EPA.

Charley Eulitt discussed the issue of purchasing the fishing license machines. Continuing the topic from last month, nothing in writing as of yet, but Jeff Goehring will keep the Board informed of anything he may hear.

Bob Collins discussed the Cleveland Sportsman Show. Plans are in the works to have Joe Thomas back as last year, possibly setting up with D’Arcy Egan with all money to benefit the LECBA Kid’s Fishing Program. More details to come as things progress.

Jerry Abele addressed the idea of contacting Homeland Security to make sure there are no upcoming issues for the coming season that would “blind-side” us. Questions about the TWIC cards are still in the air.

Don Lowther questioned the issue of Canadian fishing licenses and whether they will be able to purchased online. It is believed this has been postponed another year. Rick Unger was to be looking into this issue.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, December 8 at TBA (check calendar online at

With no further business, Paul Pacholski motioned to adjourn at 8:15 PM. Seconded by Dave Whitt.
